I Finished!

I recently finished a women’s bible study at my church, Northern Hills, called Stepping Up by Beth Moore.  This was especially exciting for me because out of the several studies I’ve done either in a small or large group setting I’ve never finished every page.  There were always a few (or more) blank pages of homework.  I made a commitment to get up every morning at 6:00am to meet with God at the beginning of my day instead of when I got around to it.  Anyone who has ever spent more than 10 minutes with me knows that I am NOT a get up in the wee early morning type of gal.  I have to be honest and say that it didn’t happen every morning, especially when we were back in Neb visiting family.  However, I got up many more days than not.

Briefly, this was a study of the Psalms of Ascent, Psalms 120-134.  These Psalms were sung on the pilgrimage to the Three Great Feasts.   Each Psalm that they sang were also sang and connected to the 15 steps of the temple.  After each Psalm of Ascent, Ms. Moore, had us write a one sentence summary of what touched us most from each Psalm on a stair graphic in the back of the book.  I’ve felt led to share them.

Psalm 120:  I want to feel at home.

Psalm 121:  My God protects me.

Psalm 122:  I am glad to enter my church!

Psalm 123:  I lift my eyes to you, Lord.   I give you my attention and wait expectantly.

Psalm 124:  God has always/ will always be for me.

Psalm 125:  My trust in God is like Mount Everest.

Psalm 126:  I will sow in tears BUT will reap with shouts of JOY!

Psalm 127:  “Nisi Dominus Frusta.”

Psalm 128:  I will revere the Lord and walk in His ways.

Psalm 129:  When feeling attacked-they won’t get the best of me.

Psalm 130:  There is faithful love in our Lord!

Psalm 131:  (I desire to sit with the Lord) Calm like a weaned baby, like a little child with his mom.

Psalm 132:  I want to be in God’s presence-all the time!

The second part of Psalm 132:  His holy people will shout for joy!

Psalm 133:  Harmony and unity are blessings.

Psalm 134 was different.  She asked us to write a blessing for over a group of people.

Sisters, I’m praying that you allow God to fully transform your hearts and  your lives-no longer live for this world, but live for the next, taking as many as you can with us.  Accept God’s abundant grace and experience life to the fullest for Him.  When times of trial come, sow in tears, allow God to mold, and keep the promise that we will reap with shouts of joy!  In Christ’s name, Amen.

New Life

The older boys and I got to experience something truly amazing on Wednesday!

I finally decided to tackle the remnants of my garage sale.  I started with a vest of Ryan’s that had been there-oh, since our camping trip, err camping disaster.  🙂  I tossed it in the keep pile and found that I had put my hand in some brown goo.  Gross!  What was that?  Then I saw a butterfly.  What did I think?  Photo op!  I ran inside to grab my camera, which lately feels more like a new appendage.  But I’m loving it!  I did wash my hands really quick because, what was that?

When I got back outside I showed the kids and they were so excited!

Then we noticed that this poor little guy seemed sick.  His wings were very weak.

Then I thought that maybe he was brand new.  Remember the goo?  I looked at Ry’s vest again and sure enough-this is what I found!

I looked online and found that it can take as little as an hour for a butterfly’s wings to dry.  How amazing is it that we got to experience this?!  God is so good!

Berry Patch Farm

Thursday we met up with some of our friends at the Berry Patch Farm.  It was a scorcher, but it was such a great time!  We were able to go on a tractor ride and see all the different kinds of fruits and vegetables.  We even picked a few berries.  AJ got scratched up from the raspberry thorns (I had no idea they had thorns)!  Carson must’ve picked a berry himself because I caught him “red handed”-sorry I had to!  I am my father’s daughter. 🙂  And yes, those are snow boots on Ryan’s feet.  A wise woman (you know who you are) once told me concerning children and pretty much anything else…pick your battles!   Enjoy the pictures!

PS My sweet son, Ryan, was so worried about AJ’s injury that he was crying all the way home.  Just now he asked me, “Which pictures do you like? I don’t like the one of AJ’s owie because I was worried about him.”  I love his tender heart!
